Dr. Shahzad Ahmad's Thyroid Cancer Ablation Research Accepted for Publication
We're proud to share that Dr. Shahzad Ahmad's latest research, co-authored with Dr. Sean Nikravan, has been accepted for publication in Clinical Medicine Insights: Endocrinology and Diabetes.
The study looks at radiofrequency ablation (RFA) ? a minimally invasive, needle-based procedure ? as a treatment option for select patients with low-risk papillary thyroid cancer, performed right in the outpatient clinic. For eligible patients, this can mean avoiding surgery altogether while still effectively treating the cancer, with a quicker recovery and no incision.
This is believed to be the first study of its kind performed in an outpatient endocrinology setting in the United States, and reflects the kind of advanced, minimally invasive thyroid care patients can expect at our practice.
